    The pacing is wrong?

Arguments like that are desperate. It's not a boring ass 19th century short story. It's a Guy Ritchie movie. The man makes awesome films. While this is not his best, it's definitely not paced incorrectly.
    John Brown did nothing wrong.

        We all loved it.

My dad and I are massive fans of the books and the ITV TV adaptations as Jeremy Brett is the one true Holmes.

I thought the pace of the film was really good, no chance of being bored. It felt like a proper Sherlock Holmes adventure and paid homage to so many aspects of his character. It was gritty...the problem with many Americans is they think of this time period as genteel when it was anything but. The scenes were interesting and the atmosphere was excellent.

Really enjoyed the dialogue, many funny exchanges. Shockingly this was the first film that had Jude Law in it that I thought he actually did a good job in!

Ah well. Needless to say it was my favorite film of 2009, topping Inglorious Barsterds which has just too many uncomfortable moments to be fully enjoyable.

Go and see it is my recommendation
If a Jeremy Brett fan liked it, I suppose I can give it a shot.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

For a detective story, not an action movie? Yes.

The twist was... well, not a twist, given that Doyle used one exactly like it about fifteen times. And the rest of the movie was just kind of not-Sherlock-Holmesey.
Would you recommend it to someone who had a real childhood and therefore never read a single book by Doyle?

                SPOILER ALERT

This movie did NOTHING for me. I was waiting for the movie to make me angry or excited but instead the main villain is not even in a single frame, how did this get by QA? What's worse, they pull out the old drug that stops-the-heart trick. I wish I'd spent the $12 on another copy Hitman Blood Money for the PC, which to my knowledge is the only other piece of crap to use such a drug as a ****ing pivotal plot device. As far as I'm concerned, I"m going to get laid tonight to take my mind off this, and I suggest you all join me.
