Just think, if the movie had been made in China Jake Sully would have given his life disrupting the Na'vi attack on the bomber. Neytiri would have seen the justice of his cause at the last minute and would have died at his side. The mushroom cloud of the explosion would have been reflected on the pupils of their dead eyes. Col. Quaritch would have delivered a eulogy about the sacrifice of the few for the good of the many.

Would that have been a better story line?

Oh, Oh, I know. They could have changed the name of the natives to the Ara'bi. It would turn out that the natives had immigrated from another moon via the vortex 1000 years ago. Jacoub Sulli would die delivering the plans for their attack to Col. Moshe Quaritch. The Ara'bi are defeated and in the end we see settlers arriving in the thousands to settle the newly detoxified "promised land".

Actually you do see her for a few seconds. In the scene where she rescues the real Jake in the portable lab they switch to a live action actress for a few seconds. I know this because I could see the pink margins of her eyelids in the close up. AFAIK the pink margins of her eyelids weren't noticeable anywhere else in the movie.

It's not so much the 3D as the fantasy element. Imagine tentacle rape (not that I am a fan of the subganre) but with Oscar winning acting.

dr s: the thing is that you didn't exactly need to be mystic meg to work out what was going to happen and how it was going to end from an early stage. leaving 2 hours+ to sit through with only the effects to keep you interested. you seemed to enjoy the film; good for you. i didn't, i expected more and was disappointed.

My issue with Avatar from the trailers and why I won't be seeing it is that it looks like a computer game - fake as ****. The fact that the science behind the story doesn't make sense neither also doesn't help me suspend my disbelief.

What is the point in CGI if it looks so fake and ruins the atmosphere? And yet stil people rave about it.

Even the picture we've got posted in this thread looks like a computer game.

Expecting more just proves you're a damn fool.
