It postulates a Soviet Union that never fell, and launched a war against NATO around 2005. Read this thread first:

If this is your cup of tea, it's a lot of fun to read through.

Wow, those guys are hard core. I started reading through the second link. It was interesting how they set things up with short news stories from various years. Then it started getting into lengthy prose and I gave up. But damn, there is a whole forum dedicated just to this scenario?

Hello, I see that you are discussing Communist Propaganda. It is all well and good for hard-core leftists such as David Floyd to masturbate to fantasies of a Soviet Union that rules for a thousand years, but all True Christians know that capitalism is the only economic system sanctioned by God.

Oh my, I just imagined me, aged 28, in Soviet Vilnius in 2005. Probably a drafted captain in cat. B division...

You mean the Soviet Union fell?

Just figured that it would not be impossible for Serb to run a company in the same b/n as me lol

Today was slow at work... so I did some reading on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,
Armenia-Azerbaijan, Chechnya. Thought about some alternate developments, namely,
how would a limited non-nuclear war between Russia and Turkey in the Caucasus in the
                    1990s have played out.

Alternate history can be fun, but it needs to be well written. AH geeks are usually well
informed about the period and events they're describing (some stories are truly a tour
de force) however they're not often engaging writers.

All you have to do is come here and listen to many people, wandering around with blank looks, repeating what someone, they're not exactly sure who, told them at some point while they were in a stupor.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Sloww, do you partake in reenactments of Civil War battles?

It reads as a somewhat poorly edited Red Storm Rising + Hackett's WW3. Still, good way to kill time
