What was the best opening scene in the Indiana Jones trilogy?

Raiders of the Lost Ark:

Pluses: Perfect introduction to the character and his main adversary. Classic bobby trap sequence. Alfred Molina.

Minuses: Probably the least action-packed.


Temple of Doom:

Pluses: Perfect representation of the classic adventure-serial style the series was going for. Terrific action sequence, with classic poison/antidote situation. They tested the escape on Mythbusters, and it works.

Minuses: Kate Capshaw.


The Last Crusade:

Pluses: Phenomenal origin story, introducing Indy to his whip, his scar, his fear of snakes, his fedora. The entire circus train sequence. Hard-ass Henry Jones, Sr. River Phoenix.

Minuses: Indy's useless fat-**** friend.

I'd probably rate this one third. But you missed one obvious plus: Short Round! Best part of that movie!

Short Round doesn't show up until the action sequence is over, so I didn't include him.
