I have a minor phobia of stinging insects, particularly bees, wasps and hornets. It's not so bad that I'm paralyzed with fear, but I am very uncomfortable when they're around.
Apiphobia.
That's understandable.
I know a person who is terrified of caterpillars.

I mean, if someone's got a lighter and a canister of gasoline and is smiling at me, I think running away as fast as I can while screaming my head off is one of the most rational courses of action I could take in order to survive.
You don't think he is going to ask you to come to a bonfire/bbq with him?

I can't even go near a cliff with a sheer drop if there isn't something I can use for support. I don't mind heights if I'm up high in a ladder, there is a guardrail, or something solidly attached to the ground to grasp.
I used to have a fear of stinging ants after I accidentally stepped on an ant mound when I was around 4 years old. I was bit dozens of times by those little bastards. That fear went away after accidentally stepping on a fire ant mound this summer and I found fire ant stings to be no worse than a mosquito bite.

I'll see Riesstiu and will raise with claustrophobia.

I think it's a question of the degree of aversion. If you get seriously nervous while leaning out over a safe guardrail that's too high to fall over then you have a phobia. Same with my reaction to wasps etc. The amount of damage that I'd sustain even if stung would be pretty low. Certainly not enough to justify how nervous I get.
I have the same thing. In order for it not to be a phobia I'd have to be super allergic to getting stung. I have never been stung, so I don't know if it's the case.
Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi Wan's apprentice.
A bee sting isn't too bad. I found that it's less painful than a fire ant sting and you only get a slight swelling (assuming you're not allergic). A wasp sting feels like a chemical burn or something, very painful and irritating.
Yes, after getting stung on the nose by a wasp, I don't even notice bee stings anymore.
I'm afraid of heights. I even get a little nervous on a step ladder, so changing a lightbulb is always a harrowing adventure for me. I think it's because I was dropped on my head too many times as a child.
