    Have any?

Mine is needles/syringes. The mere sight of them makes me uneasy and if I get a whiff of the rubbing alcohol we can reach Full Fear Mode.

I realize on an intellectual level it is crazy but that doesn't change the reality. Fortunately needles aren't a part of my daily life (heaven forbid I should need to self inject for medicinal purposes) so the phobia is limited.

S what irrational fears do you have?

I was telling the truth, I think it would suck ass to be burned alive.

I've no real phobias. Needles aren't fun but I've no problems with them.

I think it would suck to die with a red hot poker shoved up my ass but it's not something I'm phobic about.

I seem to be developing a fear of heights. They never used to bother me when I was younger, and I'm still not terrified, but I find myself increasingly apprehensive about looking over a really high ledge.

I have a minor phobia of stinging insects, particularly bees, wasps and hornets. It's not so bad that I'm paralyzed with fear, but I am very uncomfortable when they're around.

Phobias, as a psychological disorder, are generally thought of as being irrational in nature. It's perfectly rational to fear being burned alive.

For myself: claustrophobia and arachnophobia. Put me in a small room filled with spiders and I'd more than likely drown in my own vomit.

This thread was obviously inspired from the pig flu thread...

I would get the vaccine (I think) if the pig plague had been anywhere near as bad as the alarmists were saying. I can do it if absolutely necessary...

I can't remember the last needle I got but it would have to have been about 15 years ago.

Problem with this definition is even arachnophobia should not even count. Nor fear of heights.

Many of these common "phobias" are perfectly rational survival instincts that evolution has given us.

I think it's a question of the degree of aversion. If you get seriously nervous while leaning out over a safe guardrail that's too high to fall over then you have a phobia. Same with my reaction to wasps etc. The amount of damage that I'd sustain even if stung would be pretty low. Certainly not enough to justify how nervous I get.
