This is too funny. I've had something similar like this in mind lately without even knowing about this latest news from California.

That given the high rate of divorce among straight people, straight people are simply not fit for marriage.

Nationwide, about half of all marriages end in divorce.

I believe it's actually closer to 40%, anyways. Though the likelihood for divorce are much higher in 2nd and 3rd marriages... so it makes more sense to compare 1st marriages, IMO. Regardless that doesn't necessarily contradict the reasoning for this stunt, but it was a nit I had to pick.
