Advice is problematic, because if you can't come to a decision on your own chances are you won't have the stomach to go through with it as this thread demonstrates.Originally posted by Riesstiu IV View PostThis thread was retarded. Don't ever ask for advice or share the details of your personal relationships with people on an internet forum.
Some people do need somewhere to talk, and a forum is as good as any other place. The downside is once it's out it might be available forever (or until somebody deletes it).

If you ask for relationship advice here, you will get terrible advice from people who are either gay, trolling you, a virgin for 'religious' reasons, or some combination of the three.Originally posted by Kitschum View PostAdvice is problematic, because if you can't come to a decision on your own chances are you won't have the stomach to go through with it as this thread demonstrates.

I think people are commonly looking for reinforcement of their own weakly held beliefs rather than really being a blank slate for any crazy advice.Originally posted by Riesstiu IV View PostIf you ask for relationship advice here, you will get terrible advice from people who are either gay, trolling you, a virgin for 'religious' reasons, or some combination of the three.

People who post personal threads do search for rationalizations for things they already believe. They basically recruiting an army of straw men which they can "defeat" and feel better about themselves. They ignore, naturally, the tougher arguments that might shake their sense of self worth (since they made a bad decision).Originally posted by Kitschum View PostI think people are commonly looking for reinforcement of their own weakly held beliefs rather than really being a blank slate for any crazy advice.
Do you ever read the community blog less wrong? (I heartily recommend it to all, some of its content is pretty good) They being pretty anti-religious consider certain theological debates, like those medieval ones about "atheism" to fall into this category.Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”

I would like to ask. Why didn't anyone notice my post about abortion? In the older days this would have started a flame war.
How old have we become not to appreciate the simple things.
