You were not correct. You said they die. The vast majority do not.

The simple truth is there are a lot of drama queens in the media, and apparently a handful on these forums. The prorogation in real terms did **** all. If I read another poorly written article or facebook page saying it killed all bills again, I'm going to go ballistic.

People need to ****ing figure out how their government works. The same *******s who thought the coalition was a good idea because it was legally permissible in our governmental framework are losing their **** over prorogation, which is not only permissible but has had many other historical uses -- most of which were by Liberals.

The fact the vote is to reinstate the Bill tells you that it died. The mechanism is to bring it back...

Are you really going down this road, Wezil?

The revote puts it back where it left off. To die means it has to start from square one again.

You probably argue about the weather.

Again, I'll let the argument stand rather than run circles with you.

This year Canada will turn 143 years old and there have been 105 prorogations.

People need to stop losing their **** over this.

I see the Economist has criticized Harper for it as well. I'm sure you will disregard it but apparently the Brits understand.

Not sure why a British magazine op-ed is at all relevant.

Just part of the chorus. 1000's of miles away they can see what some Canadians fail to.

Isn't it amazing that the farther people are from something, the less they know and understand it?

I can't wait til you link to the Taylor Swift editorial condemning it.

Because of course the Brits know nothing of how a Parliamentary system works.

This is just a bizarre statement. Of course they probably know how it works -- prorogations are perfectly legal, and I'm sure they know that.

What they probably do not understand, just as you do not understand, is the specific circumstances around the prorogation. Circumstances that are unique to Canada.

A simpleton would look at the situation and conclude they were proroguing to avoid discussing the detainee **** for a few months. The reality is the poll numbers were not moving in any direction due to the detainees (in fact, the prorogation hurt the poll numbers far more, as you're proud to show). That's clearly not the reason.

But that doesn't stop ignorant spectators from drawing conclusions, does it?

You are quite amusing lately. No doubt their information came from the janitor at Heathrow.

Apparently it is in the Economist print edition. CP reports:

Influential British magazine slams Harper's suspension of Parliament

                          (CP) – 5 hours ago

OTTAWA — The Economist, the influential British magazine that once deemed Canada "rather cool" and later dubbed former prime minister Paul Martin as Mister Dithers, is not amused by Stephen Harper's recent parliamentary tactics.

The magazine's print edition has published both a critical story about the suspension of Parliament and a scathing editorial denouncing what it calls Harper's "naked self interest."

The editorial likens Canadian ministers to hapless former U.S. president Gerald Ford "who could not walk and chew gum at the same time."

Harper's government, says the magazine, "cannot apparently cope with Parliament's deliberations while dealing with the country's economic troubles and the challenge of hosting the Winter Olympic games."

It suggests, tongue in cheek, that Harper should simply shut down Parliament altogether until the economy is running at full throttle.

The editorial opines that Harper may in fact be correct that "Canadians care more about the luge than the legislature, but that is surely true only while their decent system of government is in good hands" - and Canadians "may soon conclude that it isn't."

This is fascinating. Let us spend more posts discussing what British columnists for British magazines think about Canadian politics. I'm sure they follow it intensely closely. If it's fascinating for us, imagine how exciting it must be to them.

Keep attacking the sources Asher. At least you are consistent.

From what I see of your posts the only credible source you seem to trust is the Star. What are they saying about the issue?

You are posting ****ing op-ed columns. Get real. These are not sources, these are not relevant, these are not new, these are not interesting.

Why not ****ing pull random blog posts from MySpace? They're just as important.
