  • Black Friday

With Black Friday approaching, what are your plans? What are the killer deals you are gonna stand in line for?

Naturally, I'll be working (and no, I can't divulge or comment on any info you may have about Best Buy's specials), but what are the deals that are driving YOU out next Friday?

The grocery store is going to be having a sale on milk.

I've already finished my Christmas shopping online, and there's nothing I particularly want or need at the moment. I may try to get a Black Friday deal on a laptop in 2011, but more likely I'll just buy one online.

I'll do online deals on Black Friday. Don't plan to go to any stores.

According to smartphone rumor site Boy Genius Report, ...Apple will be offering up to 30% off on all iPods, with the exception of the iPhone and iPod Shuffle. All Macs will be up to 25% off, and all accessories will be up to 15% off.

According to Boy Genius Report, the deals will only be good for November 27th
This may just be wishful thinking, as Apple's past Black Friday sales have been in the 10% range. But my MBP is 3 years old and my wife's Cube is horribly outdated, so I'm looking at the budget and waiting for the official announcement.

Check Best Buy's current weekly ad - $100-$200 off instantly (no mail in rebates) on Mac Book Pros (amount depending on the MBP you buy).

It's amazing how cheap flat screen TVs have gotten. Some of the Black Friday ads are offering a 42" Panasonic 1080p set for $650.

Wal-Mart was offering a 42" Sharp for $500. Not sure if that's continuing.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

There is a no name brand (I believe it was called Insignia) 42" 1080p 120 hz LCD tv being sold at Best Buy for $699.99.

The Panasonic 42" being sold only has a 60hz refresh rate but it does sell for $50 less. I like Samsung as they usually have the latest technology and the best picture color but their TVs seem to cost 40%-50% more then models from other makers.

I have no experience with this camera (and would never buy one without a hands-on experience), but on a "specs per dollar" basis, that's a pretty strong buy. I can only assume it's discontinued or contains some hideous design flaw.
