So, there are ~40000 people in the US, almost all between the ages of 20 and 40, who had a grandparent in Bataan. There are ~80 million people in the US in that demographic. The probability of any individual person in the right demographic having one grandfather in Bataan is ~1/2000. The probability of some regular on Poly having such a grandfather is ~1/20. Seems pretty reasonable to me.
