How much of a soul does something have to possess before we're not allowed to kill it?

That generally only works with (near-)universally annoying people, like murderers and politicians. When you kill the guy writing a check for twelve items in the 10-items-or-less lane then even after passing the basket you're typically in the hole for about two hundred dollars, which may not seem like a lot until you consider how many people write checks for twelve items in the 10-items-or-less lane.<p style="font-size:1024px">HTML is disabled in signatures </p>

Okay - so that eliminates the guy writing a check for twelve items in the 10-items-or-less lane - what about the guy that just pisses everyone off by standing at the ATM reading his account statement for 5 minutes.
Surely you could raise enough from everyone else waiting in line?I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Yes, as long as the line is long enough, but in those cases it's often cheaper to just blind the guy - less weregild while still preventing a repeat offense. Unfortunately if the ATM prints out statements in braille then you'll also have to break his fingers.<p style="font-size:1024px">HTML is disabled in signatures </p>

IIRC it's 200 shillings for the life of your average adult (male and female lives are now worth the same amount because we're enlightened), 30 shillings per eye, 4 shillings per broken finger, 10 shillings per severed finger. If the King is holding up the line then things get considerably more expensive.<p style="font-size:1024px">HTML is disabled in signatures </p>

Seems pretty cost effective really.I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
