Which do you prefer?

I've thought about going with satelite/dish for my next apartment because it's cheaper than cable.

Now given what people have said in here about satelite reception, I know why satelite/dish often advertise their dramatically lower price.

Maybe you should check your FACTS and definitions. If anything he is being xenophobic, but bear in mind xenophobia means an UNREASONABLE FEAR. Because America's unemployment rate is so high due to Mexican job takeage, it is hardly unreasonable for a law abiding American like Asher to fear them or their tunneling into his country or their 1,000 calorie taco salads.

Cable. It's digital, it mostly works pretty well since Comcast upgraded infrastructure on our property. Can't run satellite in my condo (faces north only), so I'll never know how wonky it may be.

I hate the cable companys. I hate the fact that they have monopolies. I hate the fact that government after successive government continues to allow this anti-american bull****. I'd love to switch to satellite or just "say no" to TV altogether in order to thumb my nose at the cable companys but that would mean I'd have to use DSL. Since I have no way of knowing what internet speed I'd actually have with DSL, I'm stuck with the cable companys (who I hate). Did I mention I hate the cable companys.

It (including the digital cable) does in my area, much worse than sattelite does. Crappy cable infrastructure.

3rd world country. The three years I had cable it went out twice. Once briefly after a short power outage and once for a week after a hurricane remnant passed through, which was fine because there was no power that week either. With satellite, I can judge if rainfall is light or heavy based on whether the system "lags" when changing channels or there is no signal whatsoever.
