We could use one more player to pretty much finish the game up for us. I'd like to find a new player but if no one steps forward then we'll get people to start playing second turns. So here's your chance boys and girls to take a turn at the end game of civ4 bts. Post in the succession game if you're interested.

Screw you all, I've started playing Civ again. This time on Emperor level. I'm in the end stage of the game, and I could win it.

The civ we're playing in the Succession game is far out in first place with several vassal states and a huge military lead. Basically any victory condition is possible and we're just checking to see if any other new players want to take a turn before we let people play a second turn.

Funny, for me it was the opposite. The good things of Civ 3 they enchanged in Civ 4, while the bad things of Civ 3 they removed

I haven't played Civ IV this year, haven't really had much time for gaming this year

I agree with Adagio. I hated III. and I enjoy IV

I played and loved Civ II the most. I've dabbled with Civ IV a bit, but never got into it as much as Civ II. In the interim, I've moved beyond the Civ franchise, since none of my newer computers are capable of playing Civ II (they're too new, if that makes any sense).

Is there a Civ V coming out, eventually? I'm not averse to returning to the franchise.

I'm sure there will be at some point; Civ IV was quite successful.

I definitely suggest giving it a second chance, with the expansions. It is, far and away, the greatest TBS ever made.

If Civ5 turns out anything like Civ3 they can finally kill the franchise off.

As this thread shows, many left after Civ3 and didn't come back.

I just started playing CivRev for iPhone...actually surprisingly decent. The interface works much better than the console version, and given that I'm usually playing it in places with lots of distractions, I don't even mind that it's pretty watered down. (I do mind that some of the automation was removed, presumably due to lack of AI horsepower, but it's not a fatal problem.)

Got Civ 4 just earlier this year, played it intensively for a while, but stopped relatively fast again. I liked it, but I missed the depth of P'dox games (in their classics)

I liked Civ III, but unlike AAHZ, I think Civ IV is a better overall game. I still play Civ IV, but almost never the regular game - either I play the fantasy Mod Fall from Heaven 2, which is excellent, or one of the Revolution mods - which introduces into Civ something I thought was always missing, internal revolts. Having half your empire revolt and become a new civ is not always the most fun, but it makes the game much more challenging. It also leads to there being ridiculous numbers of civs, as big empires fracture if they are badly managed.
