Given 200 years of gun ownership, I think it's pretty clear that citizens with shotguns are not the solution to criminals with guns.

I'll support a solution that will remove guns from the hands of criminals. I wont support any myopic "solutions" that take guns from law abiding citizens while leaving them in the hands of criminals. Is there something about that concept that is difficult to understand?Originally posted by Lorizael View PostSo, since the magic wand option isn't going to happen, you essentially support a solution that will indisputably never solve the problem of gun violence. We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

Yes, what's difficult to understand is that I've never heard you - or anyone who supports broad gun ownership rights - describe such a solution.Originally posted by SpencerH View PostI'll support a solution that will remove guns from the hands of criminals. ~200 years ago that was common. Similar behaviors from other drugs and diseases like Syphilis too.Originally posted by Theben View Postche and I used to work for a pizza guy a long time ago who was a morphine addict and has a license to carry a concealed handgun. Which he did. Charming fellow, especially after he was lit up and waving the gun around in the shop.

We no longer have Morphine legal, and we don't have the Syphilis problem. Yet we still have crazies... maybe even crazier crazies.

 What is wrong?

Gun control is not a nonsensical solution. There's plenty of evidence to suggest that populations with more gun control laws have less gun crime. I don't believe that gun control alone can solve the problem, but I do believe that doing nothing is less likely to succeed than doing at least a little bit.Originally posted by KrazyHorse View Post"In order to protect against bear attack we must stab ourselves in the testicles"

Is there a rogue firearm manufacturer out there selling to the criminal element?
