Spitting outside is fine, depending on where you choose to do it. On someone's shoes isn't exactly polite.

I don't understand those (including my mum) who moan about footballers spitting on the pitch. They're helping the grass grow, and if you're going to run around for 90 minutes then it's bound to make you phlegmy. So long as you don't spit at the ref/opposition players/fans then what's the problem? I don't think it sets a bad example to children compared to the many other bad examples offered by professional sports players.

Although it depends on the surface... Spitting in basketball or floor gymnastics is a no-no, but who cares if it's football, gridiron or ice hockey?

I still recall the first hockey game I watched on TV. The Flyers were playing the Bruins (my team). I was pissed off the refs did not call Bobby Clarke for icing when he spit on the ice.

So I dont have an answer for my cultural question yet but I do know that this same ****-hat seems to have done it again. I was so pissed off I had to leave before I tore his arms off and beat him with them. I didnt see him do it so I might have been wrong and I didnt want to maim him without just cause especially since he's just a normal size guy. The only others up on the track were a couple of older women so I'm pretty sure it was him though. ****! I'm pissed!
