Larger and/or more centralized communities would have body bags and storage for corpses already available.

In remote places you might even need to stick up some more!!

Exactly. They are expected to be needed. People will die across the country if the worst fears are true. I'll be curious to hear how many communities offended by these preparations actually send the body bags back.

Even if body bags were sent I doubt that you can pin that on the Conservatives-- Is the minister supposed to know the contents of supply packages sent around the country??

    Of course not.

Tempest-- meet teapot -- I think any politico that goes after this is an idiot

Let the idiot parade begin. I predict >200 of them are about to engage in an orgy of public outrage.

edit - Sorry. How many CPC's are there? 305 - CPC

      .
Wouldn't small communities have them too?-- Or if there are 3 burnt corpses in a house fire do they just let the remains sit there while they place an order for some bags? Of course not.

I bet every ambulance has a few-- oh and every fire brigade-- because a burnt corpse NEEDS a bag

Sure, but again it's a matter of scale. A remote community may have a few available at all times (to deal with the tragic fires) but they will need to have extra this year to handle expected flu deaths in addition to the usual.

I imagine the availability of larger/centralized areas is much better as they will have more already on hand or be able to easily access more from elsewhere on short notice if required. i.e. I would be surprised to hear Toronto is getting an extra shipment of body bags.

Thats all very logical and sensible-- Probably why we won't hear it out of a politicians mouth.

THis is one of those times where the optics are bad. People who want to take offense think sending a body bag to a reserve is a way of saying " die mother ******s" as we don't care to send real help. To me, this flue does kills some people-- NOT being ready for that would be irresponsible

The pussification of America Canada continues.

Seriously, in a flu outbreak/epidemic, aren't body bags a pretty important element of preventing or mitigating the spread of the flu from improper handling of anyone who has died from it?

Dead bodies have a tendency to leak. Body bags are always a good idea.

What wezil said-- it doesn't really matter how a person dies-- you pretty much always need a good bag to keep the remains together and allow for easier handling

True. I was focused on the particular situation, mainly the absurdity that they apparently asked for help with a potential flu outbreak and were offended by something that is a legitimate part of that help, not trying to say body bags are only important in that case.

It's no win for the government. If they did nothing and a bunch of people died and were rotting up there people would be screaming about why body bags weren't sent up in anticipation.
