[Q=Zkribbler;5674307]You need to remember how the right wing works. ... Their tactics usually revolve around speading smears and fears. They do not trying and engage in a reasoned discussion of the facts but instead engage solely in mud slinging and fear mongering.[/Q] Which is really important when there are real things to fear. And apparently you haven't actually listened to any of the guys you say can't engage in a reasoned discussion. Maybe because you can't engage in a reasoned discussion? I'm not throwing a stone here, I'm just sayin'...
Well, if that corporation is the one employing you, you might want to worry about corporate profits, too. But the real problem here is: the health care bill isn't about providing for health and welfare of the average citizen. It is about expanding the control of the liberal weenies who think they know better than we, the great unwashed.
Whatever you may say about the neocons, they don't want to control where you work, what health care you decide to pay for, what kind of light bulb works best for your needs, what kind of toilet you crap in, or "saving" an insignificant fish species (that has survived far worse droughts on its own, thank you) at the expense of thousands of farmers.
So who gets to say what is "against their own self interest?" I guarantee you, they aren't acting in my self-interest. That is where the "reasoned debate" breaks down on your end, friend.
The ridiculous part is that they aren't acting in you interests, either. Your retirement depends on the economy not crumbling under the burden of all the crap these idiots want the government to do. They way they're going, you won't even be able to afford the cost of living in the Phils on your pension and savings if the dollar bombs.
As for knowing the meaning of "socialist," maybe you should look up "socialism." 1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole. Seizing control the health care sector of the economy, "for our own good," is indeed socialism.
When Bush, Delaney, etc. were in charge, the right saw the increase in government power as a good thing.
Now that government power might be used for the health and welfare of the average citizen, it is suddenly a very bad thing. And providing health care to citizens might cut into corporate profits.

So the right wing as launched an all-out attack, flinging around buzz words like "socialist" and "communist" without any attention being paid to the meaning of those words. The right is just trying to panic people into once again working against their own self interest.
