It is a very complex movie and hard to summarize. Lets say it is about Challenges ( Who gets the best Grade, who has the most complete Diary, who is better prepared - Firemen vs men at Work ), two tragic heroines, the Quest for True Love, Friendship and Manifest Destiny.

In the very Next Scene for example you will be stunned to hear that on the other Side of the Firetruck there is a single Matress (w/o Bed). Which in itself holds a very Ying/Yang Dualistic Approach and leads to Laotse's teachings: Can there a matress w/o a Bed? What defines a Bed? How did it get there? Quite Filosofik!

Personally I was so struk with this artistic genius i almost missed her Girlfriend being on the other Side of the Firetruck. They did not see each other!! Genius! The Firetruck representing the Inner Barrier between Ego and Id as described in Freuds 'Beyond the Pleasure Principle'. This Artificial Red Barrier seperating the Two Girls. Five Firemen on one Side and only two on the other. Can this Barrier be broken? The Movies Director negates this! Although later some Firemen cross to the other Side, representing denial and repression perhaps?, the two Main Characters are unable ( or unwilling?) to and thus remain stuck in their Positions.

Although the overall Theme of the Movie is quite rassistic (The Redhead is obviously an analogy to the Irish Potatoe Drought), this scene more than makes up for it.
It is almost Shakespearean as the Tragic Tale unfolds and History takes its course.

I dont want to spoil the Ending but in case of Alarm you should always carry the proverbial Bed with you!
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
