In the computer science building at my school there is a six-story stairwell known as the "Architect's Leap". Along the sides of the stairwell, one line per floor, are written the lines:

If you're feeling like a jerk,
'cause your project just won't work,
Go ahead, and take the leap,
Then you'll finally get some sleep.

And at the bottom of the stairwell is an outline of a figure splay on the ground.

Fellow students are grieving for the young man who police said jumped to his death down several flights of stairs at the Computer Science and Robotics Building.

"I was trying to get to class," said student Xing Zhou. "I had to go down two floors and I went to the stairwell that I usually go to and it's roped off. I went down two different levels and they were roped off completely."

One of my year jumped at MD ~6 years ago.

Suicide is almost always a terrible thing.

Seems like that stairway would be a fire hazard. I always thought stairways that go up multiple floors were supposed to wrap around in such a way that you can't look down through the middle and see the bottom, because such a configuration will allow a fire to quickly engulf the whole stairwell. I guess it would also prevent suicides.
