Of, course, here in Texas 'Taser' is sometime used as an euphemism form 'flame thrower', in fact that is pretty much the rule for the FWPD.

Just so it's understood, I don't see a problem with this use of the taser, unless it was obvious to the officers involved that he'd been sniffing paint, or that this might prove a fire hazard. He was violently resisting arrest and could easily have caused injury by biting or kicking the officers as the article claims he was doing.

This is very different than police use of tasers where the subject has offered the police officer no violence, or if he has, does not pose a significant threat to the officer's well-being.

People saying tasers aren't warranted when they weren't there themselves having to deal with the perp.
