I'm not engaging in conspiracy theory. I'm saying it was a bad conviction. I don't assume courts are automatically correct, and when the evidence they used to make a conviction is undermined, and possibly shown to have been manipulated, I'm going to say that it was a bad conviction.

Then let an appeal court sort it out.

Anything that happens to a criminal is wrongful. Don't you know that, Wez?

But he'll be dead before the appeals process can be completed, which is Che's point.

This thread is going round in circles.

Death tends to stop the appeals process.

If I were to accept a conspiracy theory in this case (and I don't) I'd be more inclined to go with option b) The oil deals.

The oil deals would explain why Libya would admit responsibility, but not why the West would switch targets.

I don't know why they decided to switch targets from from the people who made identical bombs to someone else, and I'm not going to speculate.

You're assuming it was a bad conviction before the conviction has been proven to be bad.

I assume a conviction is valid until proven otherwise. It's the only way a criminal justice system can function.

You're trying to use logic. Don't even go there.

British leader ‘repulsed’ by bomber's welcome
Brown breaks silence, says he played no role in freeing Lockerbie killer

                                updated 8:02 p.m. CT, Tues., Aug 25, 2009

LONDON - British Prime Minister Gordon Brown broke his silence on the Lockerbie bomber, saying he was repulsed by the hero's welcome Libya gave the convicted killer and insisting he played no role in Scotland's much-criticized decision to free him.
Kind of like I was repulsed here.

I don't know whether to hope for a slow death to be endured, or a quick one to send him to eternity faster.
I think I'd vote slow. Eternity is eternity after all. He can suffer here for a while.
