  • Ginger

So I was reading about this, and it seemed awesome. Like so many healthy things, and others that people think it does (but it might not).

I have often had pickled ginger and ginger drinks... tasty!

Last week I bought some fresh ginger root, and found even a bite of the stuff to be very strong.

However, the fresh ginger root (4/4 times?) seems to have a weird effect on me. My eyes become red and glassy, I feel super alert (but not as uncomfortable as caffiene makes me feel), and I can't sleep for like 12+ hours (which meant that the most recent time I had it, last night, caused me to lie in bed without being abel to sleep for 6 hours).

As far as I can tell, that isn't something raw ginger root should do.

What are other peoples experience with ginger?

According to Harry Turtledove, ginger is highly addictive to alien reptiles. However, also according to Harry Turtledove, the South would have outlawed slavery within ten years of having won the civil war, so we've really got to take Harry Turtledove with a grain of salt.

You can make raw ginger root into tea, quite good for dodgy stomachs. Didn't know you could get high off it, will have to eat a ****load.

Maybe I have alien reptile anscestors.

I haven't tried doing anything with raw ginger except eat it, the tea I have is in little packets (I have tea that isn't in little packets, which is better.. butit isn't the ginger tea I have had).

I'm not a physics genius like KrazyHorse but I think that it's not raw once you've cooked it.

Well, ignoring the possibility of my experience with it being unique/etc... it is suppose to do a lot more than just help you stomach.

Like making the liver less toxic/etc.

Actually, that claim (unlike others) appears to have some scientific backing...

Ah cool, after posting that I did go and look but I'd only found stuff about nausea in pregnant women.

I think this means I can drink as much booze as I want as long as I eat a bit of ginger right?

I know. The liver is where you want your toxics. You don't want them in your brain or heart!

Hard to live without a liver, too.

I am not so sure how it works.. however, it seems to me like there is a chance that eating ginger (doesn't matter whether it is raw or not) would allow you to do more things that damage your liver before your liver stopped working well at removing toxins.
