Meh? How are the National Lampoon movies, meh?

Personally I also liked Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful, Weird Science, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, but YMMV on those.

Breakfast club was always overrated as far as I'm concerned.

Sixteen Candles and Ferris were probably by favorites. WS and PT&A while not as good were still quite entertaining.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I will stop channel surfing and watch if I run across Ferris or Breakfast Club.
The others, not so much. Thus: meh...

Hard not to call someone who did all those movies as defining a generation (movie wise at least).

And of those, he directed Ferris Bueller, 16 Candles, Weird Science, The Breakfast Club, and Planes, Trains, and Autos.
even of the movies you listed, he only hit about .300

So you picked the worst of that list as "the only ones worth a damn"?

oh, don't misunderstand... the movies i chose aren't good movies, by any stretch of the imagination... they are just slightly less bad 80's movies

weird science cuz of the hot chick, english mcwhatsherface

uncle buck because well it was the best one out of all the movies in his filmography

and home alone just for ****s and grins because i laughed when i first saw it

the rest are bad 80's movies with no redeeming qualities whatsoever

I don't actually like Home Alone as I think it glamorizes violence. No wonder kids are so violent these days.

The rest of the movies he directed were awesome. Some of the ones he wrote weren't quite as good. But his track record at directing is pretty good.

And people not liking National Lampoons vacation movies? pity. Although the first one is the best. European Vacation wasn't that good. But then they did Christmas Vacation (don't think Hughes wrote that one) which was an improvement.
