    Situation:

I need to buy a wedding gift for an event in October.

    The Happy Couple:

Groom - 30ish. Prosecutor. Former colleague.

    Bride - 25ish. Court clerk.

    Problem:

I don't really know their likes and dislikes. Obviously they both work in the legal system. I know he likes music and plays bass guitar. I have absolutely no idea what her interests are.

I'm not the best gift buyer under the best of conditions so this decision is going to require some outside help.

    Conditions:

Price isn't really an issue. I went to school and worked with the groom so I've known him long enough to spend a few dollars on this if required.

Let's hear from the Poly Sages. All ideas will be considered.

          Are they already living together?

Are they moving into a new house, or is she moving in with him, or is he moving in with her?

Household stuff can open up the categories of what a good gift would be.

Should I have put [serious] in the title?

I thought that was a given with a Wezil thread?

Good question. You can see why I am so bad at this...

They have been living in sin for about 2 years now. Townhouse I think.

              No children. A couple cats.

Then they don't need help making a home, and likely don't have room for more stuff they will never use.

He likes music, safe to say she does too? Really good tickets to a festival/concert?

Remember: Wedding gifts, BUY FOR THE WOMAN. The man shouldn't even enter into it.

Remember that the woman will soon be throwing out all the mans 'junk', and nice-ifying the family lair, so buy decorative new house crap like tableclothes, candle holders, and big colourful prints of wolves.
                      "Wait a minute..this isn''t FAUX dive, it's just a DIVE!"
"...Mangy dog staggering about, looking vainly for a place to die."
"sauna stories? There are no 'sauna stories'.. I mean.. sauna is sauna. You do by the laws of sauna." -P.

Gift Registry - Not that I have heard of. The official invitations were just sent so I will watch for that.

Concert Tickets - Excellent suggestion. Fake London is large enough to get some decent shows. Concerts in Toronto are more plentiful but I hesitate to send a friend to Toronto if it can be avoided.

                            Yes, but you're his friend.

I like the idea of something he can do for her; like take her to a concert.

Most weddings I have been to have a gift registry.

A gift card from some sort of Boutique such as Bed,Bath and Beyond would be a hit, simple but useful
