The WW2 movie has been milked to death with various spin off series. Ever since they canceled the planed TV movie WW3 in the 60's and decided to rather coninue the crappy "Cold War" miniseries I've been getting more and more worried for the future of the franchise.
(btw WTF with making Commie Russians the villains again after they became the good guys in WW2? Also WW2 had its stupid mistakes, I mean the French where an awesome bunch of characters in WW1 and the Napoleonic Wars prequel books but the writers had
to write in a surrender and ruined them just to show how bad-ass "new" and betterer and eviler Germans where. That reminds me moral ambiguity was done waaaay better in WW1)
Do i need to remind everyone what a dismal failure the "War on Terror" spin of was despite all the initial pomp (and I admit a smashing pilot)?
Look at what JJ Abrams did for Star Trek! If Start Trek into something more than another cause for nerds to argue about canon then so can WW2!
Maybe a remake of the OWW series (originally titled "The Great War") could be a good way to reboot the series.
