  • What would interest Los Angeles Locals about South East Asia?

I am just working on a cover design, the client really wants to promote Singapore. I will possibly be in Los Angeles promoting this new "Space Medicine" event (helping out colleague + break from work).

Anyway, the problem I am facing is that Singapore can be seen as very western in architecture, but Chinese in culture. I am just wondering what LA locals would find interesting about Southeast Asia, particularly Singapore of course. Is it the weather/beaches? massages/girls? food/nightlife? history/architecture? wildlife/nearby places such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia. (A lot of delegates will extend their stay to visit other countries near Singapore).

    come on, I'm waiting

Yeah, the wild life. 1 meter rats, not including their tail. Fascinating.

That reminds me of the first time I saw a rat that size, it was in Chinatown, big bugger in a dirty carpark, at first I thought it was a large fat grey cat, when I realized what it really was, it took me by surprise, that thing was massive.

Cleaner air. That's about all Singapore has got better than LA. Even the Asian prostitutes are better in LA.

Back in the 70's I was an Angelino who was comtemplating moving to Singapore. Some things that interested me were:

                    1) Exotic location*
                    2) Wealthy oasis in a sea of poverty. I wouldn't have been moving to a third-world country; it was more like an outpost of a first-world country. That is, a good economy with good-paying jobs.
                    3) Speaks English.
                    4) Very safe: Low crime; No chance of an upcoming war.
                    5) Cosmopolitan, that is, it has people there from all over East Asia: Chinese, Malays, Muslims, etc.

Nowadays, you can add to this list:
                    6) Eco-tourism in next-door Malaysia.
                    7) Medical tourism for USAians who can afford medical care in the U.S.
                    _______________________
                    * beautiful women and beautiful beaches are only part of exotic location. It's history as an island fortress and trading center is also included here. --And it's on the other side of the friggin' world!

You must be old Zkribbler. In the 70's, that was a time when Singapore was becoming a 1st world country, nowadays it IS 1st world and pushing the standards.

But I wouldn't live here for good, work, yes, live, no!

I've never been there, so I dunno. At the time, I was looking at a career in IT, and Singapore was very advanced.

PS: I am old. Thank you so very much for reminding me.

That's all you need to tell L.A. people and they'll come. Just tell them its not L.A.

Actually, that's not a bad idea, seriously. I think it would make an impact. But unfortunately too risky for the government types
