Your state probably has a Dept. of Labor or Labor Commissioner or something like that. Talk to them about your last employer not paying you. They can probably help.

Even if the employer goes bankrupt, non-paid employees get to go pretty much to the front of the line to get any money that's left.

A friend of mine at the place that laid me off last year just e-mailed telling me he got bad news at work to end the week and wants to talk.

As long as they're hiring, I didn't mind interviewing. I had a real good success rate on these.

It's when they weren't really hiring (already had someone) and were just interviewing to fulfill internal requirements, that I really had a problem with. Don't waste my time just so you can say you interviewed 10 people.

You can always apply for unemployment. They are supposed to consider your last 18 months of work history, so even if you only worked a month at this place, you should still be okay, unless you haven't been working for a year and half.

Also, how many people worked at your company? You and your employees may be eligible for six weeks pay. I don't know how that works, though.
