  • Perfume attack in Texas

Thirty-four people went to hospital and dozens were treated for sickness after strong perfume was sprayed by a woman in a Texas bank.

Two workers initially complained of having chest pains and headaches.

The bank then announced that anyone who felt ill should leave the building, prompting around 150 people to take up the offer.

Twelve people were taken to hospital by ambulance, after they complained of feeling short of breath and dizzy.

"When the two employees reported their illness to a supervisor, an announcement was made over the building's PA system saying that anyone feeling these symptoms should exit the building," fire department spokesman Kent Worley said, according to a local newspaper report.

Emergency services initially feared that there may have been a leak of carbon monoxide leak but having checked the building, decided that a strong perfume was to blame.

Investigators do not know what kind of perfume was sprayed.
    What's going on there?

She's supposed to just use one spray not bath in it.

I find about 10% of perfumes rather irritating to my nose and throat, allergies I guess.

I was at Target the other day and I walked by this woman who had some pungent perfume on. I felt like I walked through a cloud of mustard gas. I almost fell to my knees because I was coughing so bad. I told her to get away from me.

And normally, I'm not such a wuss. So this **** must have been military grade.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

At one place I worked, there was a woman who used so much perfume, I could tell she had arrived as soon as she stepped off the elevator halfway down the building. What made it even worse was that she sat right behind me. I'm asthmatic. So I complained to my boss. She stopped bathing in it for about a week, then started again, so I complained again. She stopped.

yeah we had one woman that over did it also but when the complaints starting flying she cut it back, and after smelling her natural state, she was asked to go back to over doing it.

especially if you're the person that had to tell her.

Did you try to inform her about the concept of water and soap ?

Yes yes and yes. Not a fun thing to do. To complicate it she had a couple of stray hairs on her chin and chest. ewwww. That was not a fun review. To make it totally embarassing, one of my third shift operators was stringing a new cable to her desk and uncovered a manuscript for a story that she must have been writing in her down times. The hero in the story was a doctor that was named after me and it was obvious that she had a crush on me. double ewwwwwww. When she wasn't around he'd read it to other staffers for amusement before I knew he had it. It was hard to keep a straight face knowing that and explaining how proper hygiene was still required even though we were geeks. There's a reason I was getting paid the big bucks
