What is a Gormster? Extended Edition.
The expression was seemingly first used by the (rather awesome) author Robert Rankin in 1921BC. Since this time those that act in a gorm-lacking capacity have been branded (for their own saftey) gormsters.
Typical Gormster behaviour includes:
Posting in a thread where the answer has already been established as either highly subjective (and thus one of personal opinion) or unattainable (either due to a lack of first hand knowledge or requiring infomation unattainable by any poster.) A gormster will become involved in a 'point war' believing themselves to be an important member of a structured debate. They will cite 'fautless' logic, argue over semantics and langauge and generally carry on a manner which has no intent to provide the original poster with an answer but is instead intended to prove themselves 'right'.
As more gormsters flock to a thread the original issue becomes lost resulting in page after page after page of gormosity.
eg:
Poster A: ''this is my opinion which is the correct one''
Poster B: ''no, THIS is the correct opinion because it is my one!''
Poster A: ''no no no, you are wrong - i shall prove it!''
Poster B: ''no no no no! your proof is wrong, i shall prove it!''
Poster A: ''no no no no no, your proof of my proof being wrong is wrong! I shall prove it!''
Poster B: ''no no no no no no!1!! YOUR proof of my proof proving your proof wrong is wrong!''
....and around and around they go.
The important thing to note about gormsters is that when posting they rarely get angry in the troll/flame sense - the difference between a troll and a gormster is that a gormster ACTUALLY BELIEVES THEY ARE CONTRIBUTING TO AN INTELLIGENT DEBATE.
Gormsters - there's one shot every minute.
