Programmer analysts, no degree required by years of experience. After a year or two they're kicking the ass of "art director" and the like.

Artists don't get paid **** because making something look pretty is not a rare skill. It's not a skill that I have, but thankfully a lot of other people have it. Even being able to codemonkey is relatively rare compared to having some artistic talent. Being able to design and implement an entire development cycle is significantly rarer than that (this is what people who go to university in CS do, at least when they aren't busy being terrible mathematicians....).
