      If the Texans pool their collective intellect, I'd guess they just might be able to give a rough estimate of what year will come after 2012

                  I read an article in a back issue of National Geographic recently. The author talked about how many people have forgotten what the night sky really looks like due to light pollution in metropolitan areas, mid-sized cities, and even smaller towns. A map in the article showed areas in the world where you can still see the natural night sky - very few areas left, if you go by that map.
                  A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

                          On topic, it seems to me we all watched a busted up comet impact Jupiter in 7 pieces not so long ago. Was that the 1994 event mentioned in the OP? Seems more recent than that.
