Was also on the news recently that a gay couple was thrown out of a bar for another kiss on the cheek. They were told the bar did not condone "that ******y stuff". They called the police, and the police officer told them that it was public indecency to kiss.
Go USA.
Which is exactly why gay marriage amendments don't get passed.

Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!
You do realize that the Church stopped sanctioning that practice over a century ago, right?
Yet it still goes on. They call themselves mormons.
Strange that.

Unsanctioned by the church. Those that engage in such activity can call themselves what they like but it doesn't make it so given the actions of the church in rejecting them.

Unsanctioned by the "official church of mormon", yes.
Sanctioned by other Churches, yes.

I'm inclined to agree with this statement.
While this is true if they are selectively demanding that gays, or blacks, or Asians, or some other group leave then they are engaging in an act of discrimination. Especially since in Salt Lake City the main Mormon temple is worked directly into grand buildings making up the government complex and public parks making up the state capital. In any event that cult has always pissed me off more then just run of the mill organized religious nonsense does because of its militancy, even more strict cult like behavior, money grubbing, and the obvious lunacy of the book of Mormon. We're talking a true cult here.
The fact that you blabber on so about them makes me want to convert. You're kind of my social barometer, in reverse.

They don't call themselves baptists or catholics. They are quite clearly MORMONS.

How are they quite clearly Mormons if the Mormon church rejects thier behavior and has for over 100 years?

The Church of Latter-day Saints is not the only church that lays claims to being Mormon.

If you had bothered to read the article, they would have been asked to leave also.
Having been to Mormon churches, any public display of affection is frowned upon on church grounds.
Furthermore, it wouldn't have made the news if it was a man kissing a woman and they were asked to leave.
ACK!
Still one has to wonder how often straight couples kissing receive that kind of response.

Yes, it does. There is no International Standards Organization that decides who can claim they are what.
The word 'Mormon' colloquially assumes they're LDS members, but this is just one branch of Mormonism.

Mormon is a term used to describe the adherents, practitioners, followers or constituents of Mormonism. The term most often refers to a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), which is commonly called the Mormon Church. The LDS Church believes that "Mormon" should properly be applied only to its members, to avoid confusion with Mormon fundamentalists who practice plural marriage. However, the term is also often used to apply to all of a group of religions that recognize Brigham Young as a prophet, including Mormon fundamentalism. The term is not usually applied to other religions within the Latter Day Saint movement, such as the Community of Christ, who have had no historical association with Brigham Young's branch of the movement.
The term originated from the Book of Mormon, first published in 1830 by Joseph Smith, Jr. According to the Book of Mormon, Mormon is the name of an indigenous American prophet–historian who compiled the majority of the book.

I almost joined the Mormon church at one point. I know The Book of Mormon is obscenely fantastic, as is the church itself, but the people are very nice (provided you conform to their standards) and many of them are very well educated. It also has that appeal of exclusivity, yet at the same time they are accepting of everyone. (again, provided you conform to their standards)
The militancy you speak of provides for a safe environment for the church's members.
It would be a nice organization to be at the top of.
They're clannish, I do know that. They take care of other real Mormons.
Notice that "real" in there, Asher?
