As a result the US open is no longer held at any private clubs where blacks or women are excluded since the PGA doesn't want to take the PR hit, but the masters is the masters and they thumb their nose at the PGA and there's nothing anybody can do about it.

Country clubs are one of the last Bastions of racism. IN chicago it's common that clubs are either all jewish or no jews allowed. IF it's a private club, they can let in or exclude whoever they want. If a bunch of white racists want to have a club, so be it. If a bunch of blacks want to have a private club where they don't have to associate with CRACKERS, so be it. They should be allowed that. As I see it I wouldn't want to be part of that club anyway. I'd prefer to be part of a club that I'd feel welcomed at. Now if there's any public financing going on, THEN ITS ALL A DIFFERENT STORY.
Are you implying Sotomayor is a sexist for belonging to an all womans club?

          Which all women's club?
But if so, then technically yes. But not really, private clubs are private clubs.

Change "black kids" to "kids" and use a better word than "complexion" and it's a different story. I agree with Pat that most likely the inner-city youths were probably acting like inner-city youths and that didn't mesh with the upper crusties. Of course rule #1 in revoking a contract is to say as little as possible to why and that leaves open the charge of racism. Saying "b/c your uncouth brats were acting like douchebags" isn't too PR-friendly either.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

              Are you serious?

Don't get me wrong; I don't think that the gov't should be stepping in to tell people who to allow in their treehouse, but are we still living in the 30s?
Quite serious. This is quite common for country clubs across the US. Hell, even if they weren't they still discriminate against poor people by virtue of their entrance fees and monthly charges. Snobs still rule.

Really don't have a problem with this. They could deny entrance to people with freckles or large ears, that's their choice. They count the lost customers, gained prestige, if any, and do the math, if it's the right decision. It's not racism, it's capitalism.

I don't know where the snobbery begins or ends, but factor in that someone pays for the facility. Doubtful that it's "poor people". Poor people swim in a creek.

Racists talk like that. But in your "world" I suppose racism simply does not exist anywhere in our country anymore. All racist attitudes among people somehow magically disappeared.
No Mr. Fun, racists don't talk like that. Nobody talks like that. Say this quote outloud 20 times:

'Uh, what are all these black kids doing here?' She's like, 'I'm scared they might do something to my child"
For one "she's like" is a clue off the bat that nobody ever said that, but rather this kid is simply paraphrasing, badly.

Two, does that sytax make sense to you. No. It is cartoonish.

Again, find me some direct quotes not from parties inclined to find anything at fault besides their own children (all parents do this) and we can talk. The only reason this is a story is because of a stupid choice of wordign (complexion).
