I was always told it was because the horizon gives a frame of reference, pretty much creating the illusion they talked about at the end of Dashi's article. Did you really not hear about this in grade school Oerdin?

Aren't you in college? You are up way too early after a Thursday night. What are you, some kind of loser.

There are several theories for why the illusion appears. Since the effect is purely perceptual (i.e. it happens somewhere between your retina and your conscious mind) it is difficult to objectively judge which (if any) is correct.

Oerdin, I went back and read your deployment thread, well parts of it since I am at work right now. Your a pog.

Not that that is a bad thing, I married a pog. Just gives me a new perspective on you and for any/all my posts concerning combat duty. Oh the rivalry of pogues and...whatever you guys call combat soldiers. By no means do I refer to myself as a ground pounder or crunchie, thats safed for 11bang bangs. But brutes, bruters, bullet magnets....tanker will suffice.

Sorry, i needed a thread where I knew Oerdin would read, this one works.

Again I back my saying. Newton's theory of gravitation states why the moon changes size (where-in size is compared to distance).

(Sun) ----------<<<<-(Earth)<<< (*)moon (Sun)-----<<<(*)>>>(E) changes distance from different gravitational fields. When on one side of the Earth it still receives pull from the Sun, but it is receiving that pull through the Earth, bringing her closer.
