  • Headed To Florida

Friday we leave for Disney World. A nice 16 hour car ride with a 3 y.o. and a 10 m.o., yeah! Looks like we'll be going via Knoxville and Atlanta route, any ideas on where to stop for lunch/dinner, etc.?

I am excited to hit up a Hardees/Carl's Jr. as it has been a while. Denny's is also not around in Cinci so we hit those ups as well. How is Shoneys?

    Anyone? Ideas?

We'll probably find a place to get peaches in Georgia.

That's a rough ride with young kids to make in a day. We do Chicago-Tampa twice a year. Usually take I-24 across TN and hit Georgia at Chattanooga. We usually stop in Kennesaw GA overnight, traffic willing. Atlanta's a b1tch for traffic anywhere near rush hour, and there's guaranteed to be construction on the main interstate through central GA. Always.

I'm not a huge Shoney's fan, but it's OK and beats the heck out of Waffle House. For family-style food, look for Perkins, breakfast lunch or dinner. Steak 'n Shake has also moved into the South, so you can find some Midwest comfort food.

I found this amazing sandwich shop in a Gainesville strip mall, very reasonable prices and all homemade soups and sandwiches. I hope it's there when we take the daughter back to campus in August.

I'm hoping to get to Atlanta before rush hour... probably won't though. Suburban has a dvd player in it and Josie loves movies. Easily keeps her busy for 5+ hours. Jace though, he's liable to do anything once the sudafed wears off

Yeah, I heard... We should not be needing it. We are staying in a condo through our vacation club and only doing Disney for 3 days. Other days will be spent at Sea World, Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral, and Gator World/Pool...

We will be staying in Perry, GA on the way there and back. If I hit Atlanta at rush hour is it better to take the beltway around or just stay on 75?

It's much better to just stay on 75 through downtown in rush hour. It's a bear either way, but you save about 10 miles going straight through.

                        Learned that the hard way.

Will try to make it to Knoxville, TN for lunch. Any suggestions?

The later. Connector usually moves better than 285.
