Is it hot? Here's some advice..
Yes, I know it should be obvious, especially to the crowd here at Poly, but sometimes, the obvious is what we fail to notice.
If you'd like to get the temperature down at your desk, take the vacuum cleaner and clean the exhaust ventilation holes on your computer cabinet.
Now, we know we should do this frequently to ensure proper airflow around the critical computer parts, but do we do it? I know I don't. But I just did, and I could swear the room temperature has dropped 3-4 degrees C as a result. The holes were really clogged though.
I've had the past week off, and spent most of my time on the computer. It's been unbearably hot all week - still is - but after 5-6 days in the proverbial oven, and being nearly fully roasted, I finally found relief by taking two minutes to get the vacuum and do a little spring cleaning, if rather belated.
I thought I'd pass it on. You'll feel better, your computer will love you for it, and your girlfriend, if actually in existence and not a mere myth, might be really impressed by your spontaneus mad cleaning skills. Or have you committed. But most asylums have airconditioning, so either way you can't lose.
