Credit is not given in politics; it's taken. So the question is, "How effective will the GOP, FauxNews, and various wingnut pundits be at keeping Obama from taking all of the credit for the recovered economy?" Based on current performance data, the answer would seem to be "not at all effective."

Then the next question is, "Once conservatives fail to stop Obama from taking all the credit for the recovered economy, how big will his re-election landslide victory be?"

Reminds me of the new exec VP of marketing/sales my old company hired when the economy went south in the wake of the dot-com bust and 9/11. When the economy recovered and sales returned to normal, he took all the credit. Fast forward a couple years after he had trashed the company's long-term profitability to show short-term gains (eliminating dozens of engineering positions so that long-planned new products were delayed or abandoned) and he and every know-nothing MBA he had hired were out the door, exposed for the charletans they were.

I expect this to play out similarly, with the Dems losing traction during the 2nd term, mirroring W's 05-08 credibility issues. Give it time.

In the meantime, all we can do is hope for a strong recovery. The fact that Obama will be given the credit is really beside the point.

It is beside the point. However, you/we need to recognize what really influences the economy and the time horizon in which that influence allows the economy to bear fruit. This, is more so for me as an investor and future businessman. If I am going to be blinded by a stupid media and credit taking know-nothings I will not be very effective at either investing or leading a company, at least not for very long. If we draw a conclusion that recent acts are the only determinants of recent events, or even assign an incorrect level of relevance to those actions, than we will continue to fall short and have these problems.

Can't y'all (see, I speaks Murican too) just appreciate the improvements that have taken place, and then wait until the next election to decide which candidate will build on them/reverse them?

Maybe Obama played a part in the improving economy, and maybe he didn't, but take advantage of the improvement while you can.

What I find more LOL worthy is that your "DONT **** WITH AMERICA" state is now the "LETS LEAVE AMERICA" state.

The good thing about the inflation "tax" is that it will hit creditors the hardest, like China and banks. They lent BIG bucks but will be paid back with little bucks.

Japher, well.. if you're sick of Obama, you can credit me for the improved economy. We know that at least it's closer to the truth (than with Obama).

If the economy does get better its because they are borrowing like crazy. Forty six cents of every dollar spent by the US government is borrowed this year. So I wouldn't expect to get much time out of any improvement, maybe a couple years. Then what? Lots of changes. Anyway I wouldn't worry too much about who gets the credit.

Great line, Gramps. Of course, he was replacing a Spend-o-crat and Borrow-a-crat, so there probably isn't much difference from the direct view. The problem has been that the Democrats tax and spend and the Republicans borrow and spend. This leaves no one for which to vote if you want the feds to get out of whole segments of American life.

Well said Blaupanzer, I feel so unrepresented in the US that before this last election the last time I voted was for Reagan. There really is no point.
