EAGLE PASS, Texas - Two escaped prisoners from Louisiana are back in custody after being caught trying to slip out of Mexico and into Texas.
Andrew Paul Knecht, 27, and Joseph Lucas Persilver, 30, were arrested at the border Monday while trying to cross into the U.S. at Eagle Pass.
The two escaped from the Catahoula Correctional Center in Catahoula Parish, La., on Oct. 15, 2008. Customs officials Tuesday initially reported the escape happened in February, but later revised the information.
Knecht had been serving a five-year sentence for forgery and simple battery, and Persilver was serving a two-year sentence for second-degree battery. Both are from Baton Rouge, La.
