  • Plomp sounds like a toilet noise to me.

It really does but what else can we expect from a nation which gave the world the word "poop"?

      "poop" came from the Dutch?

      Damn Dutch.

Poop\, n. [F. poupe; cf. Sp. & Pg. popa, It. poppa; all fr. L. puppis.] (Naut.) A deck raised above the after part of a vessel; the hindmost or after part of a vessel's hull; also, a cabin covered by such a deck. See Poop deck, under Deck. See also Roundhouse.

                Incidentally, plomp in Dutch means:

                1. adjective
                heavy, sluggish
                rude, uncivilized

                2. noun
sound of something falling down, a dash of liquid, a splash
                a waterplant (!!)
                a ditch

                A flattering name indeed

That's the definition of a poop deck not poop as in dog poop. But it seems to be middle English and not Dutch so I guess I over rated the importance of the Dutch.
