Does anyone know?
I'm talking about this Sirian. He was an AI/map consultant on Civ IV and made epic contributions to various game communities over the years. After I saw (years after the fact) that he was hired to work on Civ IV, I got curious and have been looking for evidence of his continued existence. He seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth sometime in 2006 -- which is odd, considering how consistently visible he had been until then. I even went so far as to search for Pennsylvania obituaries for "Robert Thomas" or "Bob Thomas". In fact, there seems to be no recent record of him on Google at all. Everything I find that's linked to Sirian or the "correct" Bob Thomas (e.g., his Amazon.com profile) was last accessed/updated in 05 or 06. That includes his Apolyton account. His Warpcore site is hanging out untouched, but though at some point he registered sirian.org, it's been taken over by a web squatter.
He did so much for the community for so long and then disappeared so suddenly, it seems a little eerie. Does anybody know? Considering how Soren Johnson seems to have basically singled him out as the go-to fan-expert, maybe I should just ask Soren Johnson...
