Some of the musical "genes" they use still seem a little wonky. For example, do I really like "political lyrics" because I like "Common People"? I'm going to be pissed if they start playing Springsteen or some other preachy crap...

Apparently I also like "subtle Fender Rhodes".

Based on what you've told us so far, we're playing this track because it features punk influences, a subtle use of vocal harmony, mild rhythmic syncopation, call and answer vocal harmony (antiphony) and repetitive melodic phrasing.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Hulu works, but only if you're a sufficient tech ninja.

I can view Hulu, Comedy Central, etc and listen to Pandora using hacked HTTP headers (using the Modify Headers extension).

According to Pandora, I'm a big fan of "extensive vamping."

I used Pandora back in the day, before some moron decided to limit it to the US.

I believe the reason had to do with royalty rates. The Republicans, eager to suck off the RIAA after getting lots of campaign contributions, tripled US royalty rates for playing music over the net. Other countries continued to keep the old low royalty rates but the stupid new US law required US based companies like Pandora to pay the high US rate even if the listener was over seas in a low royalty rate country. Thus the foreigners got cut off.

I actually had a thread about this back in 2005, I think. It was called the death of internet radio or something like that.

Is there anything that isn't the Republican's fault in your world?

Lots but that bill from 2005 most definitely was.

Your argument also doesn't make any sense, btw.

I thought the rates went up in 2007, and I didn't know the GOP did it...

Aren't you guys in any way worried that Pandora sounds a little too close to Panda for comfort?

I'd boycott that site for that very reason, on principle alone.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

i used it a couple of years ago. found it very limited for the sort of music i'm looking for. i don't know if it's improved at all since then.
