Amazingly this is true. Its an industry about which the main claims that it is any crueler than any other killing of animals for food and skins mainly arise from the facts that

    1. the baby seals are VERY cute (conveniently ignoring that those are not killed in the commercial hunt)

    2. Its outside on the ocean and blood on snow make for graphic photos

And in the community that is so upset by the poor baby seals that they want to ban trade that has gone on for centuries they stage bull fights, scarf down fois gras and send out fleets of fishing vessels to scour the seas past devestation so that fish stocks may never recover.

      Fooking *****.

I'd be in favour of seeking relief through the WTO, collecting the allowed tarrifs, and subsidising sealers with the proceeds. So much per pelt.

Indeed yuck. If she did not actually club the seal herself, she does not qualify as "badass," she simply eats some nasty, tough meat. Even if she had clubbed the seal, it's not like these are elephant seals, no? If the seals were any good at defending themselves, Canadians wouldn't be walking right up and bludgeoning them.

They use some very special seals to make it a real challenge. Genetically enhanced seals that make angry noises when they're clubbed and all.....Many also look esp. cute to throw attackers into emotional disarray. Only the toughest Canadians can handle such beasts, and they rightfully brag about their experiences later in the pub, where the numbers of seals they had to battle are directly proportional to the amount of alcohol consumed
