Ashamed to admit it, but I'm watching The Bachelorette

Actually, the only reason I'm doing it is that Brian, the IT guy from Atlanta who's already called the chick a sassy little minx and himself Hot Tub Harris, is a friend of mine. Thankfully, he goes home soon, so even though his screen time is entertaining as hell, I won't have to suffer through the rest of this too much. How does anybody get into these shows?

The Bachelorette, that's like romance novel re-enactment, isn't it? I quite enjoy Top Chef and other cooking docuwhathaveyous but that's it.

If it's not, it might as well be. I'm not snobbish enough to write off reality shows as beneath me, but their enjoyability is directly proportional to their trainwreck potential. I think that's why I don't like this one. They seem to be trying to keep the trainwreck moments minimized.

I'm taking safe harbor in the trainwreck provision. It also helps that he's already let me know he only lasts one more episode. Most people, I'd watch just long enough to be able to politely say yes, I saw you on TV. This guy promised trainwreck moments, though, and delivered as well as he could the first episode.

while I do watch some reality shows (I like to blame my wife for that) I prefer those that have a ratio of women to men of more than 1 - 30. THe Fox one where they fooled the women into thinking the guy was rich was pretty funny.

Fair enough. You could add a drink every time my boy makes everybody uncomfortable (David Brent crying and begging for his job type uncomfortable), too. I'm sure that would go well. "My e-friend, who I know through a gaming messageboard knows this guy, so let's work him into the game."
