Obviously less gay friendly then others.
But then I don't remember seeing differently in any employee manual i've ever read.

We don't have an employee handbook, maybe I should write one.
1. Employee Relations: You, an employee, are encouraged to pursue relations within the company. It is our understanding that if you are engaged in a romantic relationship with a current employee you will be less likely to leave. However, should you begin bring in any emotional baggage you will be promptly terminated. Gay relationships are fine, just don't assume everyone else is gay because you have gaydar.
2. Computer Usage: Use the computer. If you aren't sure how, you're fired.
3. This is a work at will state, but that doesn't mean you can will your work to get done.
4. If you don't have work to do, join a message board and post regularly. The typing will make us think you are working.

Actually, the one-space rule is true for any magazine or newspaper. (Books too, but I've only worked as an editor/rewrite guy in that space.)Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

Author Network offers a number of helpful articles on the business of writing - Formatting Your Manuscript by Linda Adams.
Two spaces or one: This, of course, refers to how many spaces after a period. It's also another ambiguous guideline, much disputed in writing circles. Again, start by referring to the publisher's writing guidelines. If the guidelines don't specify, use two spaces. It makes the manuscript easier to read; the sentences won't run together.
Again it says 'much disputed in writing circles' so please don't pretend to be the definative authority here.
I'm making no claim which is right, I'm just saying it's not as one sided as you think. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Your source is for fiction writers submitting a manuscript, and it's about marketing to your potential publisher/editor. And its copyright date is 2002. Thus, it acknowledges only courier and times roman fonts; and while it recommends two spaces for ease of reading, it advises you to check the publisher's guidelines first. Fiction writers normally submit to multiple publishers. Do you really think it make sense to have both two-space and one-space versions available? It's clumsy and a potential error source.
Commissioned works go straight to the editing process, and publishers are doing all they can to streamline their processes. Very different from an book editor who reads physical manuscripts from wannabe authors.
Frankly, the "much disputed" aspect comes from people who are living in the past.
Anyplace that accepts two spaces will also accept one.
Many places will accept only one space.
So, as someone who works in the field, the trend is clear.
All my sources are publisher guidelines. Yes, limited to my clients, but that includes dozens of publications, both consumer and trade (plus manufacturers). All who have any spacing rule at all say: one space.
Yeah, it's just my experience, but I'll take that over an advice-to-lovelorn-authors website from 2002.Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

You even say the 'trend is clear.' So you even admit that it's not definative yet. (which was my point, thanks for the assist)
And even if that becomes the standard in the publishing world, that doesn't cover personal communication which has always used different rules. I will continue to use 2 spaces in personal correspondents regardless of any rules asshats like you pretend to be gospel. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. I was very specific about the media spaces in which it's gospel, and never claimed anything more. In fact, you quoted me on that. Now who's the asshat?Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

GO back to the other thread, YOU are the one that gave me abuse for using 2 spaces. I know I'm an asshat but you're the original asshat. I just said that's the way i learned and didn't feel like changing, yet you called me out on it. SO EXCUSEEEEEE ME.It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
