Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
The first half the second book is good. The second half of the second book is marginal. Skip the rest.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
If you enjoyed the book Dune because it was a good read, then stop there.
If you enjoyed the book Dune because you find the Dune Universe fascinating, by all means continue.
Messiah, Children, and God Emperor would be considered "Sequels" to Dune. Heretics and Chapterhouse, though referred to as sequels, are completely different stories in a different universe, albeit a familiar one.
The Brian Herbert prequel novels (and sequels, his last 3 books are sequels to Chapterhouse), along with Heretics and Chapterhouse are not as engaging as the first four in my opinion for one major reason: a lack of a hero. There are alot of characters involved, and some decent character development throughout, but there is no true Muad'Dib type protagonist that you kind of fall in love with.
The imagination of the entire Dune universe fascinates me, so I read all of them, and would re-read them again. For you, there is really only one way to find out...
The first 3 are very good after that they get a little odd.
Very true.
And the ones by his son - not too flash.
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
I tried really hard to get into the ones written by Kevin J Anderson and Brian Herbert but the writing style was so different it was distracting.
The information in the six books that were supposed to precede the events in Dune was interesting but the writing was just distracting.
Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh
I'd also say stick to the first three. I did read God Emperor - didn't like it and stopped there.
...
Until the prequels came out. Read a couple. Not worth it.

If you read nothing after Dune you will be okay. If you must read more, stick to the first two sequels.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
What are the other mini-series like? I watched the "dune" mini-series, and thought it was OK; seemed to keep pretty-much to the story-line of the book (although it had been years between reading the book and watching the mini-series). Saw that the sci fi channel made a few of the sequels into mini-series as well, but I haven't seen them (we don't have sci fi channel here, so its DVDs or nothing).
Neither the movie nor the mini-series were any good. Between the two, however, I preferred the movie.
