  • Thread in which Ming discusses commercials

    What do you think, Ming?
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "

Stars a brown person. I'm now uncomfortable buying Intel products, as I suspect they might support terrorism.

I think it's pretty clear he is as terrorist. Notice the panicked reaction of all of the people, and how they attempted to swarm him before he detonated his device.

Damn, he's the co-inventor of the USB and he still has to work for a living. SAD, he must have been rewarded like crap.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I think he's calling his shot, like Babe Ruth. He's saying "I'm going to detonate my **** THERE".

He's an Intel Fellow. That is to say, this is probably the only work he's done. And apparently it's not even the same guy, but an actor portraying him.

I rate ads on many factors. Obviously, production and creative values are important, but one must also consider the target audience and the campaign objective to really judge a commercial.

I remember watching a beer commercial with my wife... I thought it was funny, well done, and enjoyed it... she screamed and claimed she would NEVER EVER buy that brand of beer because of the commercial. When she was done ranting, I pointed out that she doesn't ever buy or drink beer. So the point is, there are many commercials I don't like, but that doesn't mean they aren't good commercials, it just means they weren't designed with me in mind. Plus, they might just be simply awful commercials. I really know when a commercial is bad when I don't like it, but I know I'm the target audience.

                      Now this commercial....
                      Quality production value
Creative value - Hmmm, classic "employee hero" spot. Nothing really creative here. Making geeks into rock starts... they handled it well.

Campaign objective - I'm assuming that it's the old "we are an inovative comapany and you can trust us to give you leading edge solutions"
I think the commercial (and I'm sure there will be more in this campaign) does meet that objective by showing past inovations.

Target audience - I'm sure they are going after the tech audience, but more importantly, the general business management audience. Their use of an inovation that even a moron can understand pretty much says that the general audience is more important. The fact that there is no real tech details supports that assumption. I would fall into the target audience.

Overall, I think it's a nicely done spot. I enjoyed it, and it was memorable.
I think it made it's point, so it wasn't a waste of money. I'm not sure how many times I could watch it without being bored with it... but overall, a good job.
                      Keep on Civin'
RIP rah, Tony Bogey & Baron O

I can't believe you failed to spot the obvious jihadist subtext of the commercial.

Imagine how unappealing the real dude must be if that actor is an improvement.
