"Plomp" is actually not really positive in dutch as well, but hey, it's my surname and I'm proud of it.
I was bored of 'CyberShy' for millenia already. It didn't fit me at all.
I picked it somewhere in 1996 when I entered a chatroom somewhere and everybody was trolling and spamming and whatevering. I really felt like: "Wow, what's going on here!"
Then I decided that in opposite to real life, I actually felt kinda shy in cyberspace, so I picked that name.
Later I found out that 'cyber' was slang for 'cybersex' in many chatforums, so when I picked that name to chat I got private chats all the time like: "Don't be shy, I'll be gentle for you" and I was like :eek!:
Anyway, I always though it was a stupid name but didn't want to change it b/c people recognized me. But now b/c of the transfer I thought it was a good idea to switch to my real name. (and thanks to this thread new employers may actually hire me, since not only the "Google is a douche" threads will show up anymore on google
)
And thank for this thread. It makes me feel like I can censor/delete a bit more posts again because I got some buffers against "anti CS feelings" NOW
