  • Swine Flu is the new Bird Flu

Are you going to get it? Do you want it? What variety? Will you get the T-shirt?

I'm not taking this seriously enough.

This is just another media-generated scare. Provided you don't live in the third-world (ie, Mexico, or Texas), it's no more severe or contagious than any other influenza. Honestly, I don't know why everybody's panties are in a twist.

Honestly, I don't know why everybody's panties are in a twist.

      Reason: Media Panic
Cause: Need to compete with Fox News for ratings
      Root cause: O'Reilly

Well, people over 40 or so will remember what happened with the Swine Flu of 1976, though the vast majority of the damage was done by the vaccine they rushed through, not the flu itself.

They panicked with the vaccine because this is the flu of 1918, so it's better so say that the Bird Flu was the new Swine Flu.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

There are now 40 confirmed cases in the U.S. as international concern continues to grow.

Well, this is just the start. As with the flu of 1918 it started mild in the spring then turned deadly in the fall.

Swine flu forces shutdown of Richardson school

Canyon Creek Elementary School will be closed for the rest of the week after one student tested positive for the fast-spreading illness. "The kids of that school should stay at home," said Dr. John Carlo, Dallas County health authority.
This is the suburb where I live.
It may not be 1918, but at the very least it's a pain in the ass. Hopefully it stays a pain in the ass.

Swine flu fears close schools in NY, Texas, Calif.
