In some respects, they are similar. But pogroms and lynchings are more easily identified as political violence because they tend to involve at least modestly large groups of folks carrying out the violence.

There is an undercurrent of violence against street bums too, but I would be hard-pressed to label it political violence.

Though, violence against bums is normally related to their weakness, and not ideology based. Whereas gays are attacked because they're gays, which is a crime against society for certain ideologies. And all religious concepts that affect the polis i.e. society as a whole, laws, etc., can only be political.

Thanks! Too bad I had to sit this one out. Riot training starts in two weeks, so I jussssst missed the possibility of going. I instead spent the day doing close quarters combat and takedowns. Nothing is more fun than doing an arm bar to the one or two *******s who've earned it.

I've never been in a riot, but I can say that the small amount of riot training I had as a soldier sucked. *******s throwing crap at you and you're not allowed to go crack their skulls. You're praying they come close enough so you can "defend yourself".

I can say that the edge of the shield can be a very effective weapon; even better than the club in the right situation.

Oh, a public opinion poll just days ago by our beloved state media, showing that no less than 89% of Muslims would vote to the left of the center. Absolute majority for the Social Democrats. It's starting to make sense why the loonies generally favour increased immigration.

The fact remains though, Muslims will harass gay people. Whether it is a case of political violence or not, I'll let you be the judge. We can't talk about these things here, it's not PC as you should know.

Interestingly, our local xenophobic parties FPÖ and BZÖ have a relative majority of votes among neo-citizens. One can only wonder about voting behavior of people.
